Under general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the position of Maintenance Technician I is responsible for keeping parks, recreation facilities and grounds clean and safe.

Will be responsible for the prompt repair and maintenance of facility equipment, fixtures and other machinery. Duties also involve upgrading, installation, and preventive maintenance of all equipment. Capable of performing troubleshooting to determine cause of equipment problems and breakdowns. Monitors equipment, fixtures and assists with light maintenance during daily operations to determine where maintenance is needed. Works with and communicates closely with the Maintenance Supervisor.



  • Support the general operational needs of parks and recreation.
  • Use the work order system to respond to maintenance requests and close out completed work.
  • Monitor park grounds and facilities, and correct or report issues depending on level of need.
  • Elevate problems to department supervisors as they arise – maintain constant communication with your supervisor.
  • Be able to safely drive park vehicles to various locations around the City and County to address maintenance needs.
  • General cleaning of recreation centers, including general program spaces, hallways, and restrooms.
  • General cleaning of pavilions, public restrooms, and grounds in park spaces.
  • Removal of trash from containers and grounds, including delivery to collection areas.
  • Maintain high quality/professional appearance and demeanor
  • Works to ensure the highest quality product and service is delivered to our customers
  • Other tasks as assigned in support of the organization.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must hold a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be willing to be trained in a valid current CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid certification or equivalent.


Ability to provide good and effective communication both orally and written; capacity to understand and follow oral and written orders.

  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds frequently.


  • This position requires working in internal and external environments
  • May be required to occasionally work nights and/or weekends.
  • This position requires a valid driver’s license.
  • Successful candidate must pass a background check.
