Maintenance Mechanic
Job Overview

- Receives work assignments from the Maintenance Team Leader.
- Set a high standard of demonstrated concern and performance of safe work practices according to the plant and industry safety standards.
- Answer calls for mechanic as directed by the Maintenance Team Leader and dictated by daily priority list.
- Troubleshoot and repair Major mechanical breakdowns of production and plant equipment.
- Provide the proper follow-up to insure that problems are really fixed and do not reoccur.
- Provide preventive maintenance service to scheduled equipment.
- Record and report all work in the established system.
- Perform listed project work designated by the Maintenance Team Leader when not answering calls.
- Repair any defective items removed from equipment as bench work.
- See that all parts used are checked out and reordered.
- Research additional information for parts ordering if necessary.
- Contact outside sources to help diagnose problems when necessary.
- Review daily work history with mechanics on next shift.
- Make an effort to cut costs through substitution of components and elimination of troublesome components.
- Assist all plant personnel in understanding correct operation of equipment.
- Look for ways to improve current equipment and components, to reduce costs.
- Assists other mechanics or electricians in repair activities, and learning departmental procedures.
- Submits pertinent information on machine breakdown on a Work Order.
- Assures all work performed is recorded in the established system.
