Administer programs and services that are aimed at maintaining a healthy community.
Collaborate with other community leaders to assure availability of services and programs.
Appropriately perform all aspects of nursing care related to community health programs
including: health screening and testing, immunizations, cooperative school health programs,
family planning, breast and cervical cancer, TB, STD, and infectious disease. Advise community
leaders and business on health issues and communicable disease investigations. Maintain
current knowledge and understanding of patient care and the roles and responsibilities of the
various licensed and unlicensed personnel assigned to the health department. Direct the work of
unlicensed nursing personnel and office staff as it relates to clinic clients. Ability to respond to
potentially life threatening situations in a calm and orderly manner. Ability to exercise sound
judgment. Skill in routine medical procedures; giving injections, measuring temperature, pulse,
respiration, and blood pressure. Discuss patient care and progress with physicians and
registered nurses. Assists with the care of patients according to appropriate patient care plan.
