The person’s primary responsibility is work as part of a team to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the Cement Vessel Un-Loader equipment in order to maximize operational efficiency in an environment of continuous training and improvement; to operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair the vessel un-loader. The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is also responsible to ensure that all work is completed in a safe, efficient and timely manner and in compliance with environmental requirements.


Primary Duties


  1. Rigging, piping and welding/cutting on a frequent basis. Disassembles/repairs mechanical components such as: pneumatics, hydraulics, conveying, rotating, equipment, etc. according to specifications.
  2. Familiar with all types of material handling equipment, such as belt conveyors, bucket elevators, dust collectors, etc. and have experience with precision coupling and belt drive alignment techniques and with various types of bearings and their application.
  3. Inspect/remove repair/replace conveyor systems, air slides, belts, elevators, pneumatic systems, chains, etc.
  4. Observes and tests the operation of machinery and equipment in an effort to diagnose malfunctions, using applicable testing devices.
  5. Maintain/repair dust collector systems and conduct routine PM’s on process and auxiliary equipment.
  6. Reads schedules, attends and participates in company training sessions including safety, equipment modification/updates, process changes and sessions mandated by regulatory agencies.
  7. Makes mechanical assessments and takes corrective action and/or follow-up.
  8. Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries to self and others by observing and practicing all safety policies and procedures, operating practices, and wears appropriate PPE at all times.
  9. Attend all classes / education / training as applicable for this position.
  10. List is non-comprehensive and additional duties may be assigned at supervisor’s discretion.
  11. Perform minor PM tasks including lubrication, minor machine adjustments to belt conveyors and V-belts.
  12. Perform housekeeping in areas of responsibility to ensure plant and equipment is safe for operation and maintenance work.
  13. Work Place Inspections must be completed before the start of any work using the current FRA form.

Physical Demands:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel.  The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear or smell.  The employee will frequently be required to walk on rocky, irregular surfaces that may be muddy and in reduced lighting conditions.  The employee is occasionally required to sit.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100+ pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.





Work Environment:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, confined space, outside weather conditions, low lighting, artificial lighting, and explosives.  The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, heat, proximity to electrical equipment, and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.

  1. Must successfully pass interview process.
  2. Employee in good standing.
  3. Minimum of two years Prod Tech experience.
  4. High school diploma or GED.
  5. Employee must be able to lift 50 lbs.
