Position Title:            Construction Worker

Reports To:                Distribution Superintendent

FLSA Status:             Non-Exempt – Hourly

Salary Range:            $14.50 – $28.00

 

General Purpose:

To generally install and maintain the water distribution system.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install water mains and water services
  • Detect and fix leaks in water mains and laterals; repair fire hydrants
  • Maintain records and fill out work orders
  • Maintain company vehicles
  • Operate heavy equipment, snow removal and grass cutting equipment
  • Be on-call on a rotating basis
  • All other duties as assigned

Desired Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to demonstrate good decision-making

 

Certificates and Licenses Required:

  • WD License or higher
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A)

Supervision Received:

Receives direction and guidance from the District Distribution Superintendent, Construction Foreman and Crew Lead

 

Tools and Equipment Used:

Pick up truck, backhoe, small hand equipment, bore machine, tractor, grounds maintenance equipment

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, depth, peripheral, and color vision.

 

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of

disabilities to perform the essential functions. Work is performed outdoors.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in precarious places, and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or toxic or caustic chemicals.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, at times loud when operating equipment.

Hours:

8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., and as needed.
